Unleashing Creativity: 1º ESO Students Engineer a Spooktacular Halloween Display

Halloween, a tradition deeply rooted in Celtic and later English culture, often conjures images of costumes, candy, and frights.
However, at our school, this festive occasion was transformed into an opportunity for our 1º ESO (Year 7) students to put their ingenuity to the test in the subject of Technology and Digitalization.

The challenge? To design and build eye-catching, spooky, and mechanically interesting displays for the school hallway, using the holiday as a creative springboard. This project wasn't just about crafting scary decorations; it was a practical exercise in applying foundational concepts of technology, design, and teamwork.

Technology Meets Tradition

This project successfully leveraged an international cultural event to develop essential skills.
It taught the 1º ESO students that Technology and Digitalization is not just about abstract theory or screen time, but about tangible creation and using design principles to bring imaginative ideas to life.

"The aim was to use a fun, engaging holiday as an excuse to apply the concepts we study in the classroom," explained their teacher. "The students had to plan, measure, cut, and assemble—crucial skills that go far beyond any single project. They have developed their collaborative and structural thinking in a very creative way."

The school hallway was currently adorned with these impressive, and slightly terrifying, inventions, celebrating both the spirit of Halloween and the bright future of our young engineers.
